“Knit a flock of fleecy friends!”

Every knitter dreams of having their own sheep! Well, these handknit friends, created by Freshy Millsap, are a wee bit easier to care for than a real herd. Choose stockinette or garter stitch for fleecy variety—and knit your own flock!

We knit the larger version of our Woolly Wee Sheep in Jamieson’s Double Knitting, a DK-weight yarn spun from 100% Shetland wool. Shorn from a diminutive breed of sheep that’s adapted to the rugged Shetland Isles in the North Sea, it’s springy, lofty, and lightweight—perfect for your very own handknit herd!

Three skeins of Double Knitting will make a wee flock of five to six larger sheep. Pick up two skeins of Appleton Crewel Wool—one red and one green—for the bell tie, darning needle, threader and a pack of six wee, jingling bells for a fun finish!

FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 4"/10cm tall x 5"/12.5cm long.

YOU WILL NEED
3 skeins Jamieson's Double Knitting (82 yds/75m each): 1 each of three colors
2 skeins Appleton Crewel Wool (27 yds/25m each) in red and green for bell tie
Package of 6 brass bells and tapestry needle.
Makes approx. 5-6 sheep.

Woolly Wee Sheep pattern
US 3 (3.25mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US 1 (2.25mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle.
US D/3 (3.25mm) crochet hook and 1 yd/m smooth fingering-weight yarn for provisional cast-on.
8 locking markers.
Wool or polyester stuffing.

GAUGE
24–26 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round; a dense fabric keeps stuffing from showing through.
