“Free up your fingers!”

We love fingerless mitts. They're perfect for our damp, mostly mild winters and for chilly commutes across Puget Sound on the ferry. When you warm your pulse points, you warm your whole body, and we love to have our fingers free, especially for knitting outside or texting on the go.

We love these handsome ribbed mitts on men and women alike, so we made two sizes. The pattern also lets you customize the length. And Ultra Alpaca is the perfect yarn–durable yet delightfully soft and great for warmth but not too hot.

The Details

FINISHED SIZES
Ribbed throughout, these mitts will fit a wide range of hand sizes.
Small/Medium: Approx. 6"/15cm around; to fit an average woman's hand.
Medium/Large: Approx. 7"/18cm around; to fit an average man's hand.
Regular cuff length: Approx. 9½"/24cm.
Arm-warmer length: Approx. 12½"/32 cm.

YARN
Regular cuff length (arm-warmer length)
Small/Medium: 1 (1) skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca (215 yds/198m), or approx. 125 yds/114m (160 yds/146m) of worsted-weight yarn.
Medium/Large: 1 (1) skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca (215 yds/198m), or approx. 160 yds/146m (210 yds/192m) of worsted-weight yarn.
To adjust length, allow 17 yds/16m of yarn per knitted inch.
Sample shown is regular cuff length, in Color 62173 Forest Mix (disc).

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 6 (4mm) double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.
Double-points one size larger than gauge size for arm warmer cuffs.

GAUGE
Approx. 28 sts = 4"/10cm in K2⁄P2 ribbing, not stretched.
