The Autumn and Midnight Sun Tams, both designed by Sandy Blue for Simply Shetland, have been Churchmouse favorites for years. The gorgeously intricate stranded colorwork—using ten and eleven different colors, respectively!—is engaging to knit and mesmerizing in the finished hats. With that iconic, Scottish shape and complexly detailed motifs, each of these tams will be an heirloom piece in your wardrobe.

Both the Autumn and Midnight Sun Tams are knit in a spectrum of Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift. Made from the same hardy, wee breed as our favorite Shetland Heather Aran (i.e. 100% Shetland sheep wool), this lofty woolen-spun yarn has the perfect toothy texture for stranded colorwork!

FINISHED SIZES
One size: 11"/30cm diameter.

Autumn Tam: 10 skeins Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift (115 yds/105m each) in 10 different colors.
Midnight Sun Tam: 11 skeins Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift (115 yds/105m each) in 11 different colors.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 2 1/2-3 (3mm) 16"/40cm circular and double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 2 (2.75mm) 16"/40cm circular, or 1 size smaller than gauge size.
Stitch markers.
11"/30cm dinner plate for finishing.
Darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
30 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round, using gauge needle.
