“Stunning in its simplicity.”

We asked our friend, Catherine Lowe, for a simple, ‘get acquainted’ project that would give knitters a taste of her meticulous methods and bespoke yarns. This stunner of a free pattern was the result! The riveting texture of seed stitch combined with Catherine’s precise finishing techniques makes for a scarf that’s exceptionally beautiful in its simplicity.

The Seed Stitch Triangle Scarf is knit holding Catherine Lowe’s Merino 3 together with her Silk Mohair 1. The resulting fabric is truly astounding! Lace-weight Silk Mohair 1 adds a soft, gentle halo to the graceful, drapey fabric of fingering-weight Merino 3. Together, these yarns have stable stitch structure, wonderful integrity, and stunning stitch definition. This triangle scarf will retain its shape and appearance through countless wears and washes.

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
Approx.22½"/57cm deep x 70½"/179cm wingspan, after blocking and resting.

YARN 
2 skeins Catherine Lowe Merino 3 (400 yds/366m each), and
2 skeins Silk Mohair 1 (400 yds/366m each); one strand of each yarn together throughout.
Or approx. 800 yds/732m each of an equivalent fingering-weight and lace-weight mohair yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 5 (3.75mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US 7 (4.5mm) needles, or two sizes larger than gauge needle, for binding off.
Darning needle to finish.
Blocking wires and T-pins.

GAUGE
Approx. 24 sts/42 rows = 4"/10cm in seed stitch, before blocking.
