“Quietly lustrous.”

This simple color-blocked piece is knitted end to end using the very simplest form of the intarsia method. You’ll learn how to manage both colors in each row and crossing strands at the color change—great practice for a more ambitious intarsia project! Roomy, off-center pockets on the wrap version are a little practical (a place to hold your keys, lip balm, cold hands…) and a little posh.

We picked two soft, tonal shades of Rowan Kid Classic for a polished, quietly lustrous Graphic Two-Tone Wrap with cozy pockets. Worsted-weight Kid Classic is a favorite here at Churchmouse. The lambswool offers loft and resilience while the mohair—not brushed ‘fluffy’ like many mohair yarns—adds luster, depth of color, and tonal complexity.

FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 18 x 78"/46 x 198cm without fringe, after blocking. Fringe will add approx. 4"/10cm per end.

YARN
8 skeins Rowan Kid Classic (153 yds/140m each); 4 skeins each Colors A and B.
Shown in A = 828 and B = 888.
Or approx. 600 yds/549m each in two colors of worsted-weight yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 7 (4.5mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US F/5 (3.75mm) crochet hook for attaching fringe.
2 spare needles 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle (circular, so you can knit off of needle from either end) for pocket placement.
1 yd/m smooth fingering-weight waste yarn for pocket selvedge sts.
2 locking markers.
Darning needle to finish.
Blocking wires and T-pins.

GAUGE
20 sts/26 rows = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
