“Add a pretty picot edge. Or leave it unadorned.”

This easy garter-stitch blanket is based on the washcloth pattern our grannies used to make. We’ve added a pretty picot edge to dress it up, but you can leave it unadorned if you like. The washcloth makes a nice shower or housewarming gift tied up with a bar of soap. For a grown-up throw or afghan—just keep on knitting!

DK-WEIGHT BLANKET
Finished Size: Approx. 29 x 29"/74 x 74cm.
Yarn: 8 skeins Berroco Pure Pima (115 yds/106m each). Or approx. 920 yds/848m of an equivalent dk-weight yarn.
Needles: US 6 (4mm) 24–29"/60–74cm circular needle.
Gauge: Approx. 21 sts = 4"/10cm in garter stitch.

WORSTED-WEIGHT BLANKET
Finished Size: Approx. 29 x 29"/74 x 74cm.
Yarn: 8 skeins Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (100 yds/90m each). Or approx. 800 yds/720m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn.
Needles: US 8 (5mm) 24–29"/60–74cm circular needle.
Gauge: Approx. 17 sts = 4"/10cm in garter stitch.

CHUNKY-WEIGHT BLANKET
Finished Size: Approx. 30 x 30"/76 x 76cm.
Yarn: 6 skeins Cascade Yarns 128 Superwash (128 yds/117m each). Or approx. 768 yds/702m of an equivalent chunky-weight yarn.
Needles: US 10 (6mm) 24–29"/60–74cm circular needle.
Gauge: Approx. 13 sts = 4"/10cm in garter stitch.
